Preperation for the renovation of our Old Dairy
Planning permission has now been submitted for the renovation of the Old Dairy at Fordhall Farm. This will include a new farm shop and butchery for Ben and a class room, tearoom and office space for the Fordhall Community Land Initiative - even new toilets!
Alongside this work we will need to widen the driveway to allow two cars to pass at the entrance. However, we soon came across barriers when we realised that there was an Eon pole at the end of the driveway in the way. After much negotiation with them and BT (who also had a wire on the pole) we were able to work with Eon to progress the work and by the end of January it was all done. I think there were over 6 Eon vans here at one point, plus 2 JCB's, 2 BT vans and a mini digger!
Eon, BT and Fordhall worked together to remove some additional poles from the farm and to bury cables underground. In total 6 poles were removed, leaving behind a much tidier Fordhall. A big thank you to Lyndsey at Eon and Paul at BT Openreach for all their wonderful help with the project, and not forgetting our wonderful volunteers David Murray and Jack Tavernor for their assistance in getting the job organised and complete.
